Custom (Metal) Casting ServicesWe at HistoriFigs strive to offer lead-free pewter casting services of the highest quality. Our casting shop can provide:
Additionally, we work with a number of very fine sculptors; as such we can offer sculpting services for your projects. Since our sculptors are independent, each job will need to be quoted individually. Please write for further details. Our Mold Making and Casting ProcessThe Master Figurine<< Insert Picture of a master>>Our process starts with an original figurine. These are commonly known as “Greens”, but the original or masters may well be some other color. The term “green” comes from a commonly used sculpting material known as Green Stuff, an epoxy putty which will withstand the temperatures and pressure of vulcanization process. Masters need not be made using “Green Stuff”, but many are. The Master or Pattern MoldFrom the Master figurine, we produce a Pattern Mold. A Pattern Mold is used to produce metal pattern figures, which in turn are used to create a Production Mold. Please note, that it is possible that your Master Figurine will be damaged or destroyed during the mold making process. Once a Pattern Mold has been created, the original Master Figurine is no longer needed; as such a damaged or destroyed original Master figure is not quite so alarming.
The Metal Pattern Figures
<<Insert a Picture of a metal pattern>>
Once cast, the Metal Pattern Figures are cleaned and prepared for use in the creation of a Production Mold. We take great care in the production and preparation of these pattern figures; your production castings are only as good as your pattern figures, so better patterns make better production figures. Good quality metal patterns can be used to make many production molds, as such your creations will be able to remain in production for many years.
The Production Mold<<Insert a picture of a production mold>>The number of Production Molds required will be dictated by the size of the request production run. Production runs consisting of fewer than 500 figures/pieces should not require more than a single Production Mold. Each job is analyzed individually and we will make recommendations for your specific needs. A typical Production Mold for 28mm figures will contain 8 to 10 cavities (on average). The Casting Process<<Insert a picture of production area>>Once the Production Molds are complete, we move on to the Casting process. Castings will be produced and prepared for delivery.
