Solved another mystery today. Well at least sort of solved it.
Mixed in with the World War II n-gauge masters are a few Russian looking tank hulls and as well as Russian looking soldiers. I know that Scruby never released any Russian troops for this line. What I didn’t know (or at least did not remember) is that there were plans for a second series of figures for the Eastern Front. This would explain the, incomplete, Russian men and tanks I have.
While working on some other research I came cross this advertisement from August of 1974. You can see, in the highlighted text, that there were indeed plans for a Series II: Men and Tanks of the Russian Front.
Sadly this series was never completed. My next task will be to determine why this was not completed…
This discovery brings up a new question for me, and now for you as well:
Should HistoriFigs look into completing and releasing Series II ?
If so, what should be included? We know how Jack worked, he would have re-purposed as much as possible from the first series, so we would have some pieces to work with. We might even be able to work with the few incomplete pieces we have.
